Germany is to introduce a ban on bestiality with a revision of animal welfare law that will reverse a decision in 1969 to legalise zoophilia.

Animal rights groups have called for the practice to be recognised as animal defilement and rape, using dramatic photographs of animals being cruelly treated by humans for sexual purposes to put pressure on the German government.

Zoophiles, or those who practise bestiality, argue that they treat animals as equals and never force them to do anything against their will.

“We are going to take legal action to fight this,” said Michael Kiok, chairman of the pressure group Zoophile Engagement for Tolerance and Information (Zeta), which has about 100 members. “Central to the beliefs of zoophiles is that we don’t do anything that the animal doesn’t want. We do not treat them cruelly. An animal is quite capable of showing precisely what it wants and does not want. When I look at my dog I know immediately what it wants. Animals are much easier to understand than women,” he said.

I read this Walt Disney biography over and over again when I was a kid but I honestly can’t remember any of it, so I’m just going to go with what this old man is saying and assume Walt was a bit of a dick. But also, obviously he would be - he built Disneyland and an entertainment empire and you get that by stepping over some people. Anyway, GIFs as oral history, right??

This is my hometown Istanbul, Turkey. 2 days ago government said that they are gonna destroy the Park (Gezi Park) and build a shopping mall instead of it. Public got angry because of this decision because Gezi Park is like Central Park to us. And public just so sick of government’s actions. This situation wouldn’t be this big if cops in Istanbul hadn’t started to apply big violence to people. They threw gas bombs to people’s faces which is so dangerous and they used water cannons just because public wanted to protect nature.

Now, this situation is more than just a park, this is about Turkish people finally figthing for their rights. Right know, all around Turkey, people started protesting. More than 24 hours police still applying violence. The main place Taksim (Where the Gezi Park is) like a war area. Today Turkey didn’t sleep. At 5 AM people from other continent of Istanbul walked through the bridge on their way to Taksim even walking is not allowed on that bridge.

Now, I’m on way to Taksim and I don’t know what is going to happen. People say that there are 3-4 deads, over 500 people are injured. Streets are no more quiet. We are fighthing against our cops and the government.

Please just share this post and let the world see what is happening in Istanbul. Turkish media does not show what is happening in Taksim because of governmen’ts suppression. We just have social media to help each other and know what is happening there. I don’t know what is going to happen to us today but for our country, we are ready to do anything. We are not scared. We are going to walk in our Great Leader, ATATURK’s footsteps to get our rights back. We just need your support. Support us through the social media. Support us from Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook. We need it. Pray for us. Spread this post please.

Recently, aerial photographer Jason Hawkes was on an assignment in Libya, with access to a Russian-built Mi-8 helicopter, He flew along the Mediterranean coastline, photographing Tripoli and several ancient Roman sites from above, including Sabratha and Leptis Magna. The result is a collection of images of Libya rather unlike most recent photos from the region, showing a continuity of more than 2,000 years of human habitation along the coast of North Africa. Jason was once again kind enough to share some of his images with us here. Be sure to also see an earlier story, showing the Night Skies of London and the U.K..
