In 1992 I Was 7
For serious, everything leading up to the title sequence of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Dir. Francis Ford Coppola, 1992) is so so sooo good. Love it! The map, the silhouettes of the Dracula fighting the Turks, the red plastic armor, noticing that Anthony Hopkins is also playing the priest in this sequence and and and the shouting match he has with Dracula? And their accents?! Totally good. Then -...
Retteneggerhof!
When I was four, I went to Austria for the first time and I remember riding around the country at night in a car, seeing the glowing lights of little houses far from the road and relatives pointing out that they were “ghost houses” and it THRILLED me! But really they were saying gasthaus which is basically an inn or bar - like the one my Great Grandpa owned. Anyway, just remembered...

Like I Said Earlier Today, ANYONE Can Get A Degree
The glowing green hound in the Jeremy Brett version of Sherlock Holmes: Hound of the Baskervilles is making MY LIFE RIGHT NOW! Kinda shitty and totally unnecessary special effects = SO AWESOME. Oh shit, Stapleton… the moors were a bunk idea, huh?
Again, total lack of insight into important literary works.
Though in this case it’s TV so whatever.

Just got in, read that J. D. Salinger passed away.
You know… I read Catcher In The Rye in Junior High and thought “maybe I’ll relate to this when I’m older.” Re-read it in High School and thought “is there something I’m not getting?” - think I’m gonna revisit it.
Also - I have my mom’s old copy from when she was a youngster, the one...

Una Pizza just opened on 17th, where Wicked Wedge used to be. Ate there last night, it was AWESOME! www.unapizzeria.com Had this bizarre super-filtered coconut water (?), a butterleaf salad with goat feta, tomatoes and pickled red onion (hm…) and a pizza with ricotta and prosciutto. And it was nice thin-crust pizza, which I love. I hate an icky doughy mess. Brooklyn Pilsner and good coffee....
SAL ISN’T COMING BACK ON SEASON 4?!?

Roman Holiday
I love this film! I may even waste spend my whole afternoon watching it for the bazillionth time. The best thing about returning to a favorite film is how you’ve changed in the time between viewings and how you discover something new every time you revisit it. Images from this film are so iconic (Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck holding hands, on a vespa, short hair, SMITTY!) that...

Immediately want to see The Killer Inside Me! Especially like the last line of the article.

Fuck, that’s a big regret of the year, didn’t see Antichrist. Still waiting on The White Ribbon for that matter.
I swear you can see the house from Archer Avenue in that scene in The Lonely Guy where Steve Martin shouts out Iris’ name from the roof!
My grandma is dressing more and more like a Russian peasant. And her new homemade walking stick? PRICELESS.
These Guys Are The Bestest Of Friends. BEST-EST
Intelligentsia Yellow Bourbon coffee and Duchy Originals (supes buttery) orange biscuits.
Seriously, when Will Ferrell whipped out the cowbell, I said “YESSS!” really loudly.
So many fun updates to tell you guys (bizarre anecdotal shit that happened to me tonight… like getting molested at a Woodpigeon show) but just wanted to say:
MISS YOU CONAN!

Haven’t been to the Central Library for maybe… oh I dunno, years? Saw a ton of homeless folks there. What do they know that I don’t? Clearly a trend (#reading) is passing me by.
Ate at Avenue Diner, it was good. The thing I love about all-day breakfast is that it validates someone like me who on a weekday off can’t get their shit together to eat (or let alone MAKE)...

"Let's Have Fun On Television!"
Conan is sooo good tonight! Love you Pee-Wee! Love you Ben Stiller! “Wizened and Wise” Hah! Love how agro his guests are - Adam Sandler last night too? Damn.
Robin Williams was nuts though.
And Friday night MY ALL TIME FAVE Tom Hanx (www.twitter.com/tomhanks) + Will Ferrell, more crazy expensive comedy bits and NEIL YOUNG!
Viewing Continued...
It’s really lame when shows re-hash their best moments (like what The Office is doing right now) but at least I just saw one of my all-time favorite sight gags: Angela throws her cat up into an open slot in the ceiling for Oscar to catch during a fire and it falls out of another spot onto a desk. And there’s a funny meow.
JUST MISSED Parks and Recreation BECAUSE I WAS WATCHING BART BASS PLAY A WORKING CLASS NOT-QUITE-HERO… MURDERER ACTUALLY - ON Law and Order! I had so few goals tonight and I failed one of them! Shit.

Stare into a chandelier and then blink a lot. STROBE SPOTS! Bad for you? Probs. Fun times? Sorta.
Just found a picture of Eli Roth wearing a Spice Girls ball cap and holding a copy of the Inglourious Basterds script. How’d I find it? Who knows! I don’t even remember!
You know, I could be out at Julie Doiron… but I used the excuse of “I saw her at the same venue in...

Selected: my favorite picks from my Iceland trip. Where should I go this Summer?

Sam: You look a little bit like my grandpa.
Bill: Oh, is your grandpa super cool?
Science? Snore.
Mythbusters has to be the most boring show ever. “Do cars going over cliffs always turn into fireballs?” WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?
Letterman > Leno (OBVS)
Rehash of their old rivalry, rekindled this week:
“What Letterman doesn’t like is Leno. He’s gone after his former buddy relentlessly over the past week. His latest shot came tonight when he accused Leno of pushing Johnny Carson out the Tonight Show. Harsh! Not to be outdone, Leno hit Letterman with this: “You know the best way to get Letterman to ignore you? Marry...

Back in the realms of “apparently”s in films-in-pre-production news… Mel Gibson and Leonardo DiCaprio are making a film about Vikings and they’re gonna speak old norse? WHAT THE FUCK? Stick with Scorsese Jack Dawson.

Best thing ever: the olympic torch going past FARM tonight, and me ringing the bell at the front of our restaurant and all our customers and staff going outside to watch. Called Grandma.

hodgepodgelodge:
The man who memorably said ‘I’ve never been so depressed in my life,’ is now discussing coverage maps for a network that is as unreliable as one of Raleigh St. Clair’s patients.
Pretty sure that www.hodgepodgelodge.tumblr.com is the only one reading this blog, but hey - if you’re not Hodge and you do read this, check out his blog. Especially for that story on that...
